Holland to Help Education Program in Six Indonesian Provinces PDF Print E-mail

TEMPO Interactive (24 August, 2006), Kupang:The Dutch government is to help educational activities in Kupang, West Nusa Tenggara with a Rp300 billion grant.

 

This was officially handed over via the Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Nicolaus van Baught.

In his opening speech, Nicolaus van Baught said the cooperation program was being carried out in six provinces in Indonesia.

 

The grant was transferred through Dutch Grand and Asian Development Bank.

“The total grant is 24 million Euros or around Rp300 billion,” said Nicolaus van Baught, Wednesday (23/8).

For the East Nusa Tenggara Province, the Dutch grant will be distributed in Kupang, South Timor Tengah, North Timor Tengah, Rote Ndao, Alor, Lembata, East Sumba and West Sumba regencies.

According to van Baught, the target for the grant will be focused on the management of basic and intermediate education, education infrastructure development and counseling for participation in nine-year basic education programs.

 

Piet A. Tallo, East Nusa Tenggara Governor, said the grant will helps the educational programs in the area.
In addition, more than 60 percent of elementary and junior high school buildings are ruined.
