According to BII Director Sukatmo Padmosukarso, BII is targeting to disburse US$ 15 million or around Rp 133 billion for education loan this year Called ‘Student loan’ the product is aimed for students in five universities namely Prasetya Mulya University, Institute of Management and Business Development, University of Indonesia, Bina Nusantara University and President University. When BII launched the Student Loan last year, the plafond was set at Rp 100 million. BII increased the plafond this year to Rp 200 million. As of interest rate, BII imposes around 12.9 pct per year. If NISP and BII only provide loan for students in certain universities, Bank Mandiri does not set any limitation. “The most important is the candidate has been admitted in a university having good reputation,” said Bank Mandiri Corporate Secretary, Mansyur S. Nasution. Through the Loans without collateral (KTA) for Education, Bank Mandiri offer loans up to Rp 200 million. As of the loans interest, Bank Mandiri imposes higher rate than BII and NISP which is 28 pct per year. To make sure that the loans will be used for education purpose.
