Jakarta (Kontan: (12/07/07) Which parents do not whish to send their children to good school offering good quality education? I bet every body do. Nevertheless, the soaring education fee might force parents to forget about their dreams, because there are so many urgent expenses to cover aside of schooling’s. However, education loans offered by several banks might be the proper solution.

Recently, some banks have been intensively promoting loans for education, including the Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII), Mandiri Bank and NISP Bank. They are now offering loans to cover education fee. NISP Bank President Director Pramukti Surjaudaja said NISP will increase loans for S1 (bachelor degree) programs in universities this year. “We are targeting parents who want their children to study at the Bina Nusantara University,” said Pramukti.

According to Pramukti, when the loans were introduced last year, NISP was targeting customers who want to take masters’ degree at the Swiss German University and Prasetya Mulya University.In the 2007-2008 academic year NISP credit plafond reaches Rp 35 million for bachelor degree and students of masters’ degree who still not working. Meanwhile post graduate students who already have a job can get between Rp 40 million and Rp 50 million. “The loans must be settled within 36 months,” said Pramukti. Bank NISP offers a special interest rate of 0.792 pct per month for one-year loans, and 0.875 pct per month for 2-year loans and 0.958 pct per month for 3-year loans.
