Only 19 Percent Elementary School Has Multimedia Tools PDF Print E-mail

JAKARTA, KOMPAS— It is only around 19 percent of the elementary schools in Indonesia that own multimedia tools. While in the Junior High School there is about 47, 8 percent and 75 percent for Senior High School and Vocational High School, except the private Senior High School which is only around 50 percent.

The multimedia tools, this year, is targeted to be able to reach 30 percent of the entire schools. The Junior High School is targeted to increase 10 percent, while Senior High School and Vocational High School is expected to reach 100 percent.


Joko Sutrisno, the Director of Vocational High School founding of National Education Department, on Wednesday (4/2), said that the utilization of Information Technology (IT) and Communication in the learning process is obvious. The comprehensive understanding of using the multimedia will not only make the learning process more interesting but the also to help students after they graduated. Joko explained, “One of the priorities of the significant increase of education budget for Vocational High school is to buy the students’ practical equipments. The entire Vocational High School must have the IT and communication tools already such as computer and internet,” Rudi MS, a teacher of Cikoneng Public Elementary School, Cisarua Distric, Bogor Regency, West Java province, expects that his school which has had the electricity supply since last year can get computers. He said, “Even the students came from poor families; we expect that they can also know and learn how to operate the computers,” Hary Sudiyono Candra, the Director of Pesona Edukasi Limited which produces education software said that, in the utilization of IT and Communication the government should not only focus on the infrastructure.

Yanti Sri Yulianti, the Vica Coordinator of Education Forum, said that after the rise of the education budget in the National budget, the government should fulfill the education tools and media based on the national education standard.
