Bireun, Kompas - Regent of Bireun Nurdin AR, Saturday (2/5) said that teachers have to be brave in transforming  teaching method to the students and  trigger them to study. Without changing the teaching method, students will have difficulty to accept the substance of the lessons.

Bireun, Kompas - Regent of Bireun Nurdin AR, Saturday (2/5) said that teachers have to be brave in transforming  teaching method to the students and  trigger them to study. Without changing the teaching method, students will have difficulty to accept the substance of the lessons.


Nurdin, in the education expo held by Sampoerna Foundation and Credit Suisse at Sanggar Kegiatan Belajar Kota Bireun, said quality of the students will not improve if there is no change in teaching method by the teachers.

The teachers were asked to depth their knowledge in the substance of the lessons that they will teach and find more interactive teaching medium.

“The same material with different way of teaching will create different quality of students. Enthusiasm towards teacher’s and student’s creativity will improve too” he said.

Nurdin admit that, within his region, teachers teaching method in primary, secondary and tertiary are still left behind compare to other regions. But, he is still optimist with the education budget that has been allocated by the Government Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darusalam, that this issue could be ignored.

Nurdin reminded all parents to participate to raise student’s learning motivations. This is not only at school but also, it needs to be build from home.

Two Components

Kenneth J.Cock, Director of Sampoerna Foundation Teacher’s Institute, during interview in Lhokseumawe, explained that quality of the students depend on two important elements, the educators and the curriculum.

Principals and teachers are the main factor for the delivery of the curriculum to enhance the quality of the students.

He admitted that in order to change the teaching method of the teachers and principals there are always obstacles to deal with. And funding is the main problem, he said.

“But if you’re creative enough, funds are not always the problems. Natural resources could help teachers to have better tools for many studies”, he said (MHD)
