Sampoerna Foundation was established on March 1, 2001, at the initiative of Putera Sampoerna and the shareholders of PT HM Sampoerna. The foundation now has a full team of Board members supervising and monitoring the foundation. In terms of daily-operation, the foundation has grown from only two personnel to more than 60 staffs who work 24-7 to make a difference in the educational sector in this country.

Sampoerna Foundation is a non- profit organization serving to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, by, among other things, providing scholarship for academically excellent but financially disadvantage young people to enable them to pursue their study. Sampoerna Foundation carries out a number of programs and activities on the basis of the conviction that education is a prerequisite for the creation of sociopolitical stability in Indonesia. With adequate education, the younger generation of this country will be able to build a better future.

In addition, the foundation has also granted scholarships to more than 18,000 students across Indonesia. From that number, more than 4,000 SF alumni continue to pursue their dreams while investing their valuable time and finances to help other in accessing education.
